Nanofluids are defined as base fluids that contain suspended nanoparticles, the nanoparticles can be oxides, aluminium oxide, silicon oxide, titanium oxide, metallic nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, graphene, etc. The presence of the nanoparticles allows to generate or improve the characteristic properties of nanofluids such as their thermal conductivity. Nanofluids can be synthesized by two methods and it is necessary to control some of the characteristics such as stability, thermal conductivity, viscosity, etc. Nanofluids have multiple automotive, biomedical applications such as refrigerants, etc. In this article, a review is performed on nanofluids, nanoparticles used to obtain it, as well as the properties and variables considered in its elaboration and finally some of the applications and uses.
